Transamerica 2005

Transgender Brie (née Stanley) receives a phone call from her son, days before her last surgery, as the result of her only sexual encounter with a man. His son is in jail and someone needs to get him out. Bree quickly hangs up and hangs up. But his psychiatrist wouldn't allow it. The psychiatrist arranges this trip with him before signing on to the operation. Reluctant and furious, Bree travels from Los Angeles to New York and pays a dollar to get her new son Toby out of jail, all with the sole purpose of taking this handsome, cocaine-addicted boy to his stepfather and moving on. Toby, on the other hand, wants to go to Los Angeles, the heart of the film industry, with this good-hearted Christian he teaches at the League of Churches. As they embark on an east-west voyage that follows America from one end to the other, unexpected things will happen to them. Felicity Huffman's excellent performance in this film, one of the highlights of the year, tells the story of a woman trapped in a male body, a stranger who wants to be recognized but hopes not to be noticed, with sweet humor. Do not touch. There's sweet, real, and timid eroticism like Felicity Huffman as Bri in Transamerica...
