Thelma & Louise 1991
Tired of her boyfriend, Arkansas waitress Louise (Susan Sarandon) seduces her friend Thelma (Geena Davis), who has a boring life with her apathetic and sexist husband. Together they go on a weekend trip full of freedom. They relax and dance in a bar that is their first stop and spend a pleasant evening with local men. But when a man follows Thelma into the parking lot and tries to rape her, Louise is forced to chase and kill her. Worried that the police will never believe them, the women decide to run away and suddenly become criminals. Taken hard by recent events, Thelma has a one-night stand with teenage cowboy JD (Brad Pitt) to clear her head, and things take a turn for the worse. The critically acclaimed feminist road movie directed by Ridley Scott has already become one of the best films of the 1990s. Considered one of the director's best works, along with Blade Runner and Alien, Thelma & Louise is a stunning performance with its original script and flawless cinematography. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards and eventually won Best Original Screenplay with its screenwriter Callie Khoury.
