During the Second World War, Vera Philips, a free-spirited young woman, falls in love with Scottish poet Dylan Thomas. Thomas shares the same feelings as Vera, but there is a problem. She is married to Thomas Caitlin McNamara. The rivalry between the two women turns into friendship as they get to know each other. Now Vera is part of their marriage and all three are very happy about it. This situation lasts until Vera's marriage to William, a young officer. Not wanting William to join them, Thomas's feelings tend towards jealousy.
