The Champ 1979
Former boxing champion Billy (Jon Voight), who retired from the ring years ago, is separated from his wife and lives with his beloved young son (Rick Schroeder) and plays small matches to balance his drinking money. When his ex-wife, who appeared around the same time, requests power of attorney for the child, this aging and falling in love ex-boxer will return to the ring to give his son back. One of the most crying films in the history of cinema, Champion clearly exploits the emotions, but does it very fluidly with Zeffirelli's skill. The Champion is a remake of King Vidor's 1931 movie The Champion, which won an Oscar for his performance in the lead actor, Wallace Beery. It is also considered a remake of the 1953 film Tr: The Clown. This movie was also an adaptation of the same story by Frances Marion, but Red Skelton, who played the role of Jon Voight in this movie, was a clown, not a boxer. It is a difficult sport. The phrase "boxing in translation for women" was used for the movie, which was a buzz for the movie, with a very rare style and a very high dose of sentimentality. The promotional slogan of the movie was as follows; "The most touching love triangle is the father, son and woman who come between them."
