Ray Tango and Gabe Cash are two ambitious Los Angeles police officers. Drug and weapons smuggler Perret is fed up with the pursuit of these two men, causing them to go to jail for a crime they didn't commit. Caught with a murder weapon and imprisoned, Tango and Cash cooperate to prove their innocence. One of the prison administrators is an old friend of Cash's and helps them escape from prison.
