The speed racer (Emile Hirsch), who storms the track before, during and after the race, has a natural talent behind the wheel. Born into race cars, Speed is aggressive, instinctive and most importantly fearless. His only real rival is the memory of his older brother, whom he sees as an idol. Speed seeks to fill the void left by the death of his legendary racing driver brother, Rex Racer, while racing. Speed is dedicated to racing, a family business started by his father. His father, Pops Racer (John Goodman), is also the designer of Speed's Mach 5. When Speed turns down a generous and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company's sick owner (Roger Allam), but also learns a terrible secret: Some big races are run by powerful businessmen who catch the best.
