After the death of his beloved zoologist wife Elizabeth, whose whole world was destroyed in an instant, Bob is not yet ready to start life again, even though it has been a year. Elsewhere in Chicago, Grace Briggs, cured of a childhood illness with a heart transplant, can't wait to plunge into a whole new world. Grace meets Bob at the O'Reilly Italian restaurant owned by her grandfather. Falling in love with each other, the duo begin to discover the truth about their lives and question their love. The result is a sometimes funny and sometimes sad story of an elusive harmony and togetherness.
