American Airlines pilot Dieter Dengler is shot in flight during the Vietnam War and held in a camp. Dieter, who made plans to escape from this camp, where there were other prisoners of war, took all kinds of risks. Adapted from a true story, this film is also the first American film directed by German director Werner Herzog.
