Captain Ivan DANKO (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a ruthless cop nicknamed "Iron Jaw", is the head of the Moscow homicide squad. A shrewd, sleazy and infamous detective named Art Ridzik (James Belushi) is tasked with escorting Danko to Chicago to bring back a Russian drug dealer arrested in the United States for a simple traffic crime. These two interesting cops from different cultures start working together. They soon develop a relationship based on humor and respect and take action to stop the international drug trade that takes place outside the walls of Stateville prison. Meanwhile, their "Russian and Ridzik-style" alternative police procedures get them in trouble with the authorities and flee from justice.
