In the year 1950, William Lee, a lone American immigrant living in Mexico City, leads a solitary existence, with only occasional interactions with fellow members of the small American expat community. However, everything changes when he meets Eugene Allerton, a newcomer to the city and former soldier. This encounter with Eugene gives William hope for the first time that he may be able to form a deep and meaningful connection with another person. As they begin to spend more time together, William feels a sense of camaraderie and companionship that he had been missing for so long. Eugene's presence in William's life brings a new sense of purpose and belonging, making him realize the true value of human connection in a foreign land.
