My Sister's Keeper
(2009)My Sister's Keeper 2009
The lives of Sarah and Brian Fitzgerald, their teenage son and two-year-old daughter Kate, are changed forever when they learn that Kate has leukemia. The parents' only hope is to have another child to save Kate's life. For some, while such genetic engineering raises moral questions, the Fitzgeralds, especially Sarah, have no choice but to do whatever they can to keep Kate alive. And the one you need is called Anna. The connection between Kate and Anna is stronger than most sisters: Kate, despite being older, needs a sister - in fact, her life depends on Anna. The various medical procedures the sisters had to endure in their youth are part of the normal life of a close-knit family. A loving wife and mother who gave up her legal career to care for her daughter, Sarah is sometimes lost in self-awareness as the headstrong nurse she turns into to save Kate. Her strong, supportive husband, Brian, remains powerless and passive because of his wife's strength and determination. He is almost forgotten and his only sons Jesse, Kate and Anna are in the limelight. Until Anna, now 11 years old, said no. Desiring medical freedom, Anna hires a lawyer to pursue a case that could divide the family and leave Kate's rapidly shrinking body in the hands of fate.
