Tom (Patrick Dempsey) lives the good life: he knows he can always count on the sexy, successful and sweet Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) to be her best friend and integral part of her life. Everything was perfect until Hannah went to Scotland for a six-week business trip... and then Tom was stunned when he realized how empty his life was without her. When he returns, he decides to propose to Hannah, but is shocked to learn that Hannah is engaged to a handsome and wealthy Scotsman and plans to settle there. When Hannah asks him to be her "servant", Tom reluctantly agrees to take on the role. But his main goal is to reveal his love for Hannah and stop the wedding before it's too late.
