Julien, whose mother is dying of cancer, has a special bond with Sophie, who is struggling with the hardships of immigration. This bond is strengthened by the game of courage they play. At the end of the game, they each offer other daring challenges, such as going to a test in a bra, slapping the coolest kid in school. Over time, the difficulties of life become a part of this game. While this game rekindles the great love between the two friends, it also prevents them from reuniting.
