La Môme 2007
La Môme, the opening film of the 2007 Film Berlin Film Festival, is a fascinating biography of Edith Piaf, starring French actresses Marion Cotillard, Sylvie Testud, Gerard Depardieu. The French-England-Czech co-production film is filled with 140 minutes of music by Edith Piaf that will caress your soul. Beginning with the scene of Edith Piaf's (Marion Cotillard) concert in New York in 1959, the film focuses on French singer Piaf's 40s. Born in 1915, Piaf has traveled extensively since childhood, thanks to the circus where her father worked. At the time, she was making money by singing in the streets with her best friend Momone (Sylvie Testude). Meanwhile, he was discovered by cabaret owner Lepley (Gerard Depardieu) and soon entered the circle that made him famous. Cotillard, whom we know from A Very Long Engagement, successfully portrays Piaf's teenage years until her death at the age of 47. The disease and addictions she contracted at a young age turned her into a 70-year-old woman at the age of 40, and she reveals with all its nakedness the process in which she lost her ability to walk, speak and sing. . Piaf's beloved boxing champion Marcel Sedan (Jean-Pierre Martins), who died in a plane crash in 1949, also comes to the fore in the film.
