In & Out, in which Kevin Kline gave an unforgettable performance, humorously narrates the unexpected experiences of an ordinary man whose homosexuality was announced to the whole country. Tom Hanks, who won an Oscar for portraying the gay AIDS-ridden Andrew Beckett in Philadelphia, still haunts moviegoers. Perhaps today (think: Rowley Farnsworth) the man to whom Hanks dedicated his award in his long and tearful speech will hardly be remembered, but almost everyone will remember that he was a gay teacher. Hanks' speech made a huge impact and suddenly the whole world started talking about this teacher as much as Hanks. Here In & Out was inspired by this event. The film, which tells the efforts of Howard Brackett, who was gay by one of his former students at the Academy Awards, and his efforts to turn his life upside down overnight, focuses on the theme by portraying a sympathetic gay man. A portrait that conservatives in the USA are not taken lightly and that softens the atmosphere a bit.
