After the civil war, Jack Calgrove takes action to reunite with his children. However, when he returns home, Jack discovers that his wife has tragically died and his presumed orphaned children have been placed in new homes and taken a train deep into the western territories. Jack, accompanied by a soldier, attempts to stop the train, and they are joined by a Native American sharpshooter and a freed slave.
