Action takes place in the 1930s and 40s. Guy is an Irish young man studying at Cambridge on a scholarship. This young man, only eighteen, falls in love with Gilda, half-American, half-French, who suddenly enters his room one day. Gilda and Guy, the daughters of a wealthy family living in the comfort of this peace, have a love that will last for years and will prepare some for disaster. After graduation, Guy and Gilda start sharing a house in Paris with Gilda's immigrant Spanish friend Mia. However, World War II is on the verge and life is not going the way Gilda had imagined. Guy and Mia decide to join the resistance, fight fascism, and leave Gilda, who lives a very different lifestyle from theirs. During the war, Mia dies and Guy is unable to meet Gilda and returns to England. Returning to Paris as a British intelligence officer after a while, Guy sees Gilda with German officers. Now that Gilda is on her way to betrayal, is Guy's victory really inevitable? An impressive study of the destruction of human psychology during the war years and a good opportunity to see Charlize Theron in a completely different image after her Oscar-winning movie “The Beast”.
