Love, innocence, jazz and revolution in 1960s London... Ginger and militant Rose are inseparable. Together they skip school, talk about love, religion, politics, hairstyles, and dream of more than a family life with their weary mother held captive. But when the Cold War meets sexual revolution and the threat of nuclear apocalypse looms, the two girls' close friendship is interrupted by a clash of survival instincts and desires. A vivid portrait of 1960s England through the eyes of a teenage girl, Sally Potter's latest film is inspired by the director's childhood fears of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
