Fashion publisher Maggie Prescott enlists photographer Dick Avery to find a new model with a different look. Together with the magazine team, they head to a bookstore in Greenwich Village in search of a fresh face. Unnoticed by everyone, a bookworm named Jo works at the bookstore. However, Jo's intellectual charm and beauty catch Dick's attention.
