Spain's 2011 Oscar nominee even Reine combines directing, Christopher Columbus and the fight for basic human rights. Written by longtime Ken Loach screenwriter Paul Laverty, the film follows Iciar Bolline's successful 2007 detective novel Mataharis. An obsessive idealist, Sebastian is determined to make a movie about Christopher Columbus, but it will turn the Christian hero myth upside down and expose his greed and savage tendencies. While shooting in Bolivia, Latin America's cheapest and most "indigenous" country, social unrest erupts 500 years after Columbus. People began to fight for water, the most basic substance of life.
