Set in the 1990s, metropolitan terrorist Simon Phoenix (Wesley Snipes) is frozen in ice for his crimes against people. Known for his brutal methods, police officer John Spartan (Sylvester Stallone), who brings him to justice and is accused of killing a busload of innocent civilians, falls victim to the Phoenix plot and suffers the same fate. In San Angeles in 2032 (the name of Los Angeles in 2023), Phoenix, who appears to be free from violence and without annoying incidents, is accidentally released and the police unaccustomed to violence are horrified. He has to wake the Spartan from sleep and ask him for help. Here he and the beautiful police officer Lenina Huxley (Sandra Bullock) form a mismatched couple. With his playful demeanor and action-oriented disposition, Spartan soon realizes that the city is a false paradise filled with underground homeless rebels. At the end of the film, he will direct parts of both wings of the city in a light and masculine style, reciting his famous line “A little cleaning, a little dirty”.
