In the town of Juarez, a lucha libre wrestling scene unfolds where Saúl, a gay luchador, grows tired of playing the character El Topo. He is always the loser and just an ordinary masked wrestler. Saúl yearns to become a star. His new coach, Sabrina, suggests that he develops the exótico character. This character is unmasked and embodies a stereotypical effeminate role that the audience despises. However, exóticos never win. Everything changes when Saúl introduces Cassandro, a flashy and powerful wrestler, to the market. Cassandro's rise to fame will impact Saúl's relationship with his mother, who still longs for his absent father, and his secret lover Gerardo.
