Maksym Nakonechnyi's debut feature film offers a glimpse into the struggles of female warriors fighting for freedom and a better future in Ukraine. Lilya, held captive in Donbass, finally returns to her family after months of captivity. However, the trauma of her imprisonment still haunts her, preventing her from seeing herself as a survivor and hindering her ability to truly break free. The film was showcased in the Un Certain Regard section at Cannes and originated from the director's idea while making a documentary about Ukrainian female warriors. While the scars of war may never fade, this film tells a story about hope and humanity.
