Will Andrews, a young man, decides to leave behind his academic career and abandon Harvard to answer the call of nature. He moves westward to start a new life and find himself. During his journey, he encounters a local man named Miller in the quiet town of Butcher's Crossing, who hunts a wild buffalo herd. Despite everything, they decide to embark on a hunting expedition together. However, their true intentions are revealed shortly after. Because the longer the hunt lasts, the more their bodies and minds are subjected to tests.
