Trucker Joe (Nicolas Cage) is a miserable man who has lost his wife and daughter. Although years have intervened, he has never been able to make himself accept their death. One day, on the road, he meets a woman with psychic abilities named Julie. Julie tries to resuscitate her comatose daughter, Billie.
