Being There 1979

Chance grew up as a gardener in the house of an old man he's lived with for as long as he can remember and has never been outside. Chance, whose whole life consists of flowers and television in the garden, is left in the middle when the old man dies one day. The house will now be sold. With no proof that she's living outside of her own existence, Chance can't get the lawyers to admit that she's been with the old man for years. Not even a birth certificate. When he suddenly finds himself on the street, he encounters a routine life that he has not seen for years. He walks on the street for the first time, gets into a car... And suddenly finds himself in a place he never expected. Telling the tragicomic story of a naive man who has no knowledge of life, Being There is a Hal Ashby production that should not be missed by those who want to witness Peter Sellers' magnificent performance.
