Anna and the King
(1999)Anna and the King 1999
When English teacher Anna Leonowens (Jodie Foster) is widowed in the 1860s, she and her child travel to Siam (Thailand). She will be raising 58 children of King Mongkut (Chow Yun-Fat). However, disagreements arise between these two people from different cultures. The relationship is also affected by the war that broke out between England and Burma at that time. Although the king is considered almost a god in the Buddhist tradition, Anna manages to befriend him.
