The film begins with a fan in the life of a man (Ryan Bingham) who isolates himself from life and thinks he is happy. Bingham's job requires him to travel a lot. Bingham loves the job and is making the most of it. In the sections that follow, he will develop a formula that allows one of the company's newest employees (Natalie Keener) to do their job right where they sit. However, Bingham felt that the formula did not fit the nature of his work. As a result, Bingham and Keener found that due to their combined efforts, the new formula didn't really work for them. But Bingham saw something else: Happiness matters only when there are close people to share it with.
