The Jungle Book (1967)
The Jungle Book 1967
Probably the most beloved of all Disney cartoons is Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Boy, which tells the story of a boy raised in the wild by wolves. Unlike the live-action versions of Zoltan Korda (1942) and Stephen Sommers (1994), which deal with the boy's experiences after his return to civilization, this cartoon is about Mowgli's last day in the wilderness. Because the jungle where the ruthless Tiger Shere Khan has returned is no longer safe for our hero. Mowgli is hesitant at first, then, like Pinocchio, goes astray and escapes from Kaa (snake) and King Louie (monkey) only thanks to his friends Bagheera (panther) and Baloo (bear). While the light story and animation are far from outstanding; but when we look at the personification and the result, there are differences. Another feature of Walt Disney's newest animated product, Jungle Boy, was the first of its kind to feature renowned voice actors: George Sanders impeccably voiced the wily Shere Khan; Louis Prima sings "I am the king of swingers"; Phil Harris sings Baloo, a hippie truant from school and his song "The Bear Necessistics". A sequel, Jungle Boy 2, was released in 2003, albeit belatedly.
