Based on Joseph Canon's novel of the same name, this world-class historical thriller tells a story of murder and love while recreating the 1940s filming environment using archival footage from that period. An American war correspondent returns to the devastated post-war Berlin occupied by the Americans to find a German woman who is his ex-mistress. He is allegedly sent to watch the Potsdam Conference, but in the meantime an American soldier dies. While our hero thinks he has solved the mystery of the murder, he is faced with a pathetic tale of corruption and intrigue in a city devastated financially and morally.
