The film begins with the return of Taras Bulba's two sons, Andrei and Ostap, from an Orthodox seminary. Like all Cossacks, Taras Bulba, who believes that the main training is given in the soldiers' square, sets off with his sons to Zaporozhye, where the Cossack soldiers are located. Because the Kazakh is only remembered for his bravery in the war and becomes a complete Kazakh. Their sole duty in life is to protect their religion and nation from Catholic Poles, infidel Tatars, Jews and Turks.
