In the film, Jane becomes a victim of a violent monster attack and launches an unlawful campaign to hunt down this predatory creature. As Jane focuses on her efforts to kill the monster, disturbing situations from her past involving drug use and mental illness come to light. This causes Jane's claims to be questioned by her family, community, and authorities. Suddenly left alone, Jane begins to doubt even her own memories regarding the attack and experiences doubts about the existence of the Monster.
