Suspect (1987)
In the wake of a Supreme Court Justice's shocking suicide and his secretary's brutal murder, suspicion falls squarely upon Carl Anderson, a deaf and mute veteran living on the streets. Assigned to his seemingly hopeless defense, public defender Kathleen Riley finds herself increasingly convinced of Anderson's innocence. Her conviction is shared by Eddie Sanger, a Washington lobbyist serving on the jury, compelling them both to delve into the murky circumstances surrounding the deaths. Together, they embark on a perilous investigation to uncover a truth that someone powerful desperately wants to remain hidden. The deeper they dig, the more dangerous the game becomes.
