Nathan Muir, who has served successfully in the CIA for 30 years, is preparing to retire. Muir, who comes to his office for the last time to collect his belongings, learns that Tom Bishop, with whom he has worked in many regions such as Vietnam, Berlin and Beirut, has been captured by the Chinese and will be executed within 24 hours. . . While Muir attends a meeting with senior CIA officials to brief Bishop, he realizes that the top leadership has decided to spare Bishop. It looks like the agent's life will be sacrificed to maintain relations with the Chinese government. Later, Muir takes action to save his partner, with whom he spent years and passed on almost all of his knowledge.
