The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua and stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rachel McAdams in the lead roles. The cast that accompanies the duo in this important production consists of Forest Whitaker, Naomie Harris, Curtis 50 cent Jackson, Oona Laurence, Miguel Gomez and Skylan Brooks. Although the movie, Last Chance, of 2 hours and 4 minutes, did not receive many positive reviews from the critics, it managed to become one of the most important drama films of 2015. Southpaw's fight scenes were filmed in Madison Square Garden (Las Vegas), while all boxing scenes were shot for two weeks. Jake Gyllenhaal has repeatedly stated that he was inspired by Miguel Cotto before filming and that he used him for all the details of his boxing profession.
