Set in the near future, Frank, a retired thief, has two grown children who think their father can no longer live alone. That's why they want to place him in a nursing home. However, Frank's son decides to do something different. Over the old man's objections, he gets a robot that walks and talks, helping its owner improve his physical and mental health. The next part of the movie becomes a funny and sometimes dramatic story about finding friends and family members in the most unexpected places.
