16-year-old Claireece Precious Jones must live the life no one wants in Harlem. She was raped by her own father and was subjected to physical and psychological violence by her mother. She spends her time dreaming of being a beautiful and attractive girl. He was so distant from his own life, from his peers and even from everyone around him that no one could tell his troubles or understand him. Precious's first child has Down syndrome and her biological father is pregnant for the second time. The philosophy of the film is that life is a gift and should be looked upon with hope, telling people that desperate people are not alone and there are institutions ready to help them.
