William and Dakota Block (Josh Brolin and Marley Shelton) realize that people are wandering around in their backyard one night. After leaving the house, they find that the inhabitants of the city begin to act strangely. Gradually, people became aggressive. Dancer Cherry (Rose McGowan) and her ex-boyfriend Ray (Freddy Rodriguez), whose leg was severed during the attacks, frantically roam the city with William and Dakota, while the gas released by the city explosion turns people into bloodthirsty creatures.
