Old Yeller (1957)
In the rugged Texan landscape of the 1860s, young Travis Coates shoulders immense responsibility. With his father embarking on a protracted cattle drive, the stewardship of the family ranch falls squarely upon Travis's inexperienced shoulders, aided only by his mother and younger brother. Their isolated existence is disrupted by the arrival of a stray, a yellow mongrel with an uncertain past. Initially resistant, Travis gradually finds himself drawn to the dog, a reluctant acceptance blossoming amidst the harsh realities of frontier life. This unexpected companionship will test the very definition of loyalty.
