Ted Kramer is a devoted father, and when he returns home late one night, his wife Joanna tells him he is on his way. She will break up with her husband and try to find herself. He will leave his six-year-old sons in his care. Trying to keep his job, Ted tries to get to know his son as few fathers do. She cooks for him, takes him for a walk in the park, and tries to understand all his needs and fears.
