Algeria, 1959... The conflict escalates. During the war in the high mountains of Kabul, the commander of a French army division dies... After this, an idealistic lieutenant Terrien (Benoit Magimel) is brought to the head of the company. In this platoon, he meets Sergeant Dunyak (Albert Dupontel), who has lost hope in life.
