Hero (1992)
Bernie Laplante's life is a tapestry of misfortune. Grappling with a bitter divorce and estrangement from his son, he finds himself ensnared in a police sting. Fate, however, deals a bizarre hand when he heroically rescues passengers from a fiery plane crash, losing a shoe in the process. A down-on-his-luck petty thief, Bernie opportunistically exploits the situation, only to find his act of valor usurped by an imposter. The film explores themes of identity, redemption, and the capricious nature of heroism in the face of adversity, leaving audiences to ponder the true meaning of recognition.
