As the summer of 1939 unfolds, young Zosia finds herself entwined in a passionate romance with Petro, a Ukrainian man, amidst the vibrant fields of Poland. Their idyllic world shatters when her father forces her into marriage with Skiba, a prosperous widower. Shortly after the wedding, Skiba is conscripted into the Polish army, leaving Zosia vulnerable as war with Germany looms. The fragile peace between the Jewish, Polish, and Ukrainian communities begins to unravel, foreshadowing a descent into unimaginable turmoil. This is where love and loyalty face their ultimate test.
