When the senator responds by accusing the main newscaster of being a communist, hostility arises in the majority of the population. In this atmosphere of vengeance and fear, when McCarthy's lies and intimidation tactics finally come to light, leaving McCarthy powerless, the CBS staff remain on duty no matter what, and their perseverance pays off. However, Murrow and his team will pay a heavy price and their schedule will be delayed.
