Goin' South (1978)
Desperate to evade a capital charge, Henry Moon's flight to Mexico is abruptly curtailed when his steed falters, leaving him at the mercy of a relentless posse. Fate, however, takes an unexpected turn. An obscure post-Civil War ordinance surfaces in the dusty town: any unmarried or widowed woman holds the power to spare him from the hangman's noose, should she agree to matrimony. Moon's survival hinges on the unpredictable whims of the town's women, each harboring their own secrets and desires. Will he find salvation in a shotgun wedding, or will the gallows claim him after all? The stakes are high, and time is running out.
