George Simmons, a famous stand-up artist, learns that he has a terminal illness due to circulation problems. George has less than a year to live. Ira is an up-and-coming stand-up comedian who takes a cue from George. One day, Ira and George perform at the same club. Noticing Ira's talent, George convinces her to become her assistant. With Ira coming into his life, George became more of a friend than an employee.
