Ann (Naomi Watts), George (Tim Roth) and their son Georgie (Devon Gearhart) take a short vacation to their lakeside summer house. When they arrive, they feel something strange about their neighbors, Fred and Eve. The next morning they decided to play golf. Ann starts cooking while George and Georgie fix their sailboats. Meanwhile, the young and kind Peter (Brady Corbet), whom they met at Eve's house, comes to Anne to ask for eggs. Suspicious of Peter, Ann hesitates to deliver the eggs, and tense times begin for the family.
