Empire of the Sun 1987
Jim Graham (ballet) lives in Shanghai on good terms with his aristocratic British family. But Shanghai, too, could not escape the horrors of World War II, which swept the world and was occupied by Japan. Like all lives changed by the occupation, the Graham family's order is turned upside down. Taken from his family and sent to a concentration camp in Japan, Jim tries to turn his scary environment into an adventure, a game he plays, with his imagination and courage. But the uncompromising severity of circumstances exceeds the child's imagination.
