Lauren Frederick (Jennifer Lopez) is an aspiring journalist for the Chicago Herald. Eager to impress her editor (Martin Sheen), Lauren promises her a big story and travels to Juarez, on the Mexican border, to investigate the horror-stricken city of Juarez. Hundreds of local women were brutally raped and killed, and no one from the authorities seems to take this into account.
