Beyond the Black Rainbow 2010

Successfully blending 80's sci-fi archetypes, Beyond the Black Rainbow takes us on a unique journey. While keeping an eye on a subject requires constant attention, once you're caught up in it, you'll be in for the adventure. We're inside a cold, laboratory-like building like Kubrick's. There's a doctor whose hair and looks make it obvious that he's a psychopath, and there's a strange girl who's put in there. The film takes its story to a narcotic level of reality with its interesting use of color and extraordinary images. Combined with the constant use of sound and music, this bizarre film turns into an audio-visual journey for the audience. In this first film, the director seems to be trying to create a new narrative in pursuit of Kubrick, Cronenberg, and even Lynch-style sci-fi dystopias.
